In this article, we are going to talk about the names of the Indian films that have been shot in Nepal. Due to the close to Nepal and Nepal being such a beautiful country, Indian filmmakers have been attracting toward Nepal for their film to be shot for over a year. 

Indian Films That Have Been Shot In Nepal

We aren’t only going to know about the names of Bollywood movies that have been shot in Nepal. We are going to tell you the name of all the Indian films either it is Bollywood, South-Indian, or other Indian language films that have some or majority of the scenes that are shot on the land of Nepal. 

There are some films that you may know about, though we will try to give at least a few names on the list that you haven’t known.

1. 10 Endrathukulla

Many of you may know about this film and must have watched this film on Youtube if you are a South-Indian film lover. 10 Endrathukulla was released in Hindi on Youtube with the name 10 Kaa Dam. Now, you might have remembered this. Yeah, it’s the same movie in which you have seen Chiyan Vikram, Samantha, Rahul Dev, and also one of the most talented actors from Nepal Mr. Sunil Thapa. 

The interesting fact is that even half of the film has been shot in Nepal, there isn’t even a single instance in the movie where Nepal or anything related to Nepal has been mentioned. It’s because the portion that was shot in Nepal has been considered as Uttrakhanda of India in the movie.

2. Aandhi-Toofan

One of the most popular and multi-starer films of the 80s Aandhi Toofan was also shot in Nepal. The film had actors like Mithun Chakraborthy, Shashi Kapoor, Shatrughan Sinha, Hema Malini, Meenakshi Sheshdhari, and Danny Denzongpa. 

The film has many scenes that have been shot in Nepal including the final fight scene of the film.

3. Baby

Baby is special for the Nepalese fans of Akshay Kumar because the film is an action spy-thriller with some action scenes that have been shot in the streets of Bhaktapur of Nepal. This was a great opportunity for the Nepalese fans of Akshay Kumar to see their favorite actor in their country. 

There are several movies that have been shot in Nepal, but the shot of Baby in Nepal was something different for Nepalese. Most of the time there are many movies that keep being shooting in Nepal, but most don’t even know about that. In the case of Baby, the things were different and these pics prove this.

4. Beqabu

Some of you might have watched this film on your television and have noticed that this movie has a large portion that has been shot in Nepal. Not only the scene this film has a direct connection with Nepal to its main storyline. If you haven’t watched this film yet, watch it otherwise it would be a spoiler for you. 

The film has Sanjay Kapoor and  Mamta Kulkarni in the lead.

5. Deewana Main Deewana

We all know Indian actor Govinda has a relation with Nepal and he keeps visiting Nepal timely and often. But though, there is only one film of him that have been shot in Nepal, and most of the people don’t even know about this film. 

This is a romantic thriller film that stars Priyanka Chopra, Kadar Khan, Prem Chopra, and Johny Lever along with Govinda in the lead. Though this film was completed in 2003, it got released after 10 years in 2013 and didn’t perform well. That’s why most people don’t even know this film even exists. 

6. Gharwali Baharwali

This comedy-drama film directed by David Dhawan wasn’t only shot in Nepal, but this film has a direct connection of the story to Nepal. The film has Anil Kapoor, Raveena Tondon, Satish Kaushik, and Rambha as Nepalese characters. 

The film has scenes of the Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu, and a village around the Kathmandu Valley. 

Gharwali Baharwali was also very famous in Nepal during its release in 1998. 

7. Hare Rama Hare Krishna

The most interesting fact about this film that was written, directed, and produced by Devanad with staring himself in the lead is that the idea of this film came to the mind of Devanand in Kathmandu when he was on a visit to Nepal when he saw hippies and their fallen values in the capital city of Nepal.

The film has been almost completely shot in Nepal, and the movie lovers know how blockbuster this movie was, and how epic and evergreen its songs are. Along with Devanand, this film has Mumtaaz and Zeenat Aman in the lead.

8. India’s Most Wanted

This is one of the recent films. So many of you may know about this movie. India’s Most Wanted is an action-thriller film inspired by the real story of a secret mission to arrest one of India Mujahideen terrorist Yasin Bhatkal who was also known as India’s Osama Bin Laden. 

Since this operation had happened near the India-Nepal border, the film was shot in Nepal too. The film has scenes that are shot in Pokhara and Phewa Lake. We can also see some Nepali artists in this film too.

9. Johny Mera Naam

It seems Devanad had a special connection with Nepal. 

The film was released in 1970 and it is an action-crime film. The film was directed by Vijay Anand and had Devanad, Hema Malini, and Premnath in the lead roles.

The film was a huge hit of the 70s and has many evergreen songs. The film was predominantly shot in Nepal. 

10. Khoj

Khoj is a Bollywood thriller film that was released in 1989 that stars Naseeruddin Shah, Rishi Kapoor, Danny Denzongpa, and Kimi Katkar in the lead roles. 

The story of the film is set in Kathmandu, Nepal. That’s why most part of the film is shot here in Nepal.

11. Khuda Gawah

This is the film that we don’t think needs much introduction. This is the film that shows the beauty of Mustang and Nepal to most people in the world. Although in the film, the location of Mustang is shown as someplace in Afghanistan, everyone knows that the whole portion has been shot in the valley of Mustang. 

Now Mustang has become one of the greatest tourist attraction places in Nepal, and the hotel where Amitabh Bachchan and Sridevi with other actors were staying during the shooting has also now become a tourist place. 

12. Intlo Illalu Vantintlo Priyuralu

This is a Telegu film whose remake is Gharwali Baharwali of Anil Kapoor. Since Gharwali Baharwali has a story connection with Nepal, in the same way, its original has also a story connection with Nepal. And that’s why this Venkatesh, Soundarya, and Vineetha starer was also shot in Nepal.

13. Love In Nepal

The title of the film itself shows it has something to do with Nepal, then there is a very small chance that there won’t be any scenes that aren’t shot in Nepal. 

The film has many scenes that are shot in Nepal including Pokhara and other places. It is a romantic thriller movie that has Sonu Nigam and Flora Saini in the lead. Besides this, there are Nepali actresses like Jharana Bajracharya and Richa Ghimire. 

14. Mahaan

In 1983, there came a movie named Mahaan in which Amitabh Bachchan had played triple roles. One of the most popular and evergreen Hindi songs Pyaar Me Dil Pe Maar De Goli featuring Amitabh Bachchan and Zeenat Aman was completely shot in Bhaktapur Durbar Square of Bhaktapur, Nepal. This song from the same movie Mahaan. 

Besides these two, there was Parveen Babi, Waheeda Rehman, Ashok Kumar, Shakti Kapoor, and Kadar Khan too in this film. 

15. Thaikulame Thaikulame

This is the original Tamil film whose remake is Gharwali Bharwali and Intlo Illalu Vantintlo Priyuralu. Since you have known about these two movies already, you must have come to know the reason behind this film being shot in Nepal.

16. Uunchai

Most of us probably know about this film. This film has been in the Nepali media for its extensive shot in Nepal because of its talented and very popular cast and crews. Unnchai is upcoming adventure-drama Indian film directed by Sooraj Barjatya and stars actors like Amitabh Bachchan, Boman Irani, Anupam Kher and Danny Denzongpa. Since the story of this film is about three friends who takes a trek to the Everest Base Camp to fulfill the last wish of their fourth friend, the film has a major portion that has been shot in Nepal.

17. Yaara

This is the most recently released Bollywood film that has some portions shot in Nepal. The film stars Vidyut Jammwal, Amit Sadh, Vijay Verma, Shruti Hasan, and Keny Basumatary. 

The film was directed by Tigmansu Dhuliya and was released recently on ZEE 5 on July 30, 2020.

18. Yevade Subramanyam

Many of you may have watched this film on Youtube, but with another name that was given to the Hindi dubbed version of this film. You may have watched this film as YEH HAI ZINDAGI on Youtube. 

This is the first Indian film to be shot at the Everest Base Camp in Nepal. The film was a debutant film for one of the talented directors of India Nag Ashwin. Most part of this film has been shot at Everest Base Camp and other places in Nepal. The film has Nani in the lead role and Vijay Devarakonda, Ritu Varma, and Malavika Nair in the supporting roles. 

19. Yoddha

This is a 1992 Malayalam film that stars one of the finest actors in India Mohanlal. The film follows the story of the character of Mohanlal who is destined to rescue the Rimpoche of a Nepalese Buddhist from sorcerers practicing black magic.

The film has many scenes that had been shot in Kathmandu and other Himalayan places in Nepal.

20. Yudh

This 1985 Bollywood action thriller film features a huge cast of actors like Jackie Shroff, Anil Kapoor, Tina Munim, Danny Denzongpa, Pran, Shatrughan Sinha, Hema Malini, and Nutan has also a large portion that features the different places of Nepal.
